Meet Vernon Yates

Vernon Yates is a lifelong advocate for community progress, running for Councilman At-Large to bring bold, inclusive leadership to Bainbridge and Decatur County. His campaign is built on the unwavering principles of HIT: Honesty, Integrity, and Transparency—not just words, but a promise to the people.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, Vernon learned the value of hard work early—working on a farm where “no work meant no food.” From 1985 to 2005, he built experience in Boston, Massachusetts, working in a family-owned business and serving as a foster care provider for 18 years, helping shape the lives of children in both Massachusetts and Georgia.

In 2005, Vernon moved to Bainbridge, Georgia, where he married a kind-hearted woman and launched a successful business that served the community for over 20 years. His deep commitment to civic engagement has made him a trusted voice in local leadership.
